Shelter Connect London Service and London Irish Centre

Our Connect London Service is funded by London Councils and aims to prevent homelessness through early intervention for people over the age of 25. We assist 5000 clients in housing need each year.

Services:

  • Face to face drop and outreach sessions, the telephone and emails
  • Generalist debt and welfare advice
  • specialist housing advice
  • covers London boroughs
  • pan-London telephone advice line
  • employment support
  • help to access accommodation through our partner St Mungo's Broadway.
  • The service additionally includes Link workers to help client's access holistic support via other local services.

We work directly with St Mungo's who support our clients with:

  • Real lettings - finding suitable private rented accommodation including securing PRS accommodation via property negotiators
  • Employment, Training & Education - Linking them into Employment, Trainig & Education opportinities

We are also able to refer into a a number of other Shelter services such as:

  • Shelter London Legal Team - for clients who are eligible for Legal Aid
  • Hackney Family Service - aims to prevent homelessness and secure access to safe, affordable housing for families witn complex needs in the borough of Hackney.
  • Shelter Funded Services (based in Hackney) - to assist clients via telephone or face to face

As the Connect London Service does not support under 25's, we try to support through our Shelter Funded Services or signpost to Charities that do work with under 25's such as New Horizon and Alone in London.
