VoiceAbility Advocacy Project Islington Community IMHA

VoiceAbility supports people who face disadvantage or discrimination to have a voice that counts. VoiceAbility has led work to ensure that people are supported to have control over their lives.

The Older People's Advocacy Service is available to all older people who are:

  •  At point of discharge from hospital, and those in community care homes
  • Those who are directly affected by a change in the management or running of their care
  • Those at the point of being assessed for continuing care and community care services.

Voiceability can:

  • Give information on who to talk to about general concerns, rights, and how to communicate effectively
  • Help to make people aware of the choices open to them
  • Support people to speak up for themselves (self-advocate)
  • Explain hospital procedures
  • Signpost relevant agencies, contact, solicitors
  • Assist with gaining your medical records
  • Liaise with other organisations on the clients behalf

Older Person's Referrals

You can contact us yourself by phoning 0207 485 2424 or you can ask someone else to contact us on your behalf, including ward staff or family members.

The Advocacy service is available to all and we aim to respond to any referral within 5 working days

 

In the London Borough of Camden, Voiceability provide several types of advocacy and self advocacy services including:

  •     Community & BME IMHA Service
  •     Advocacy for Older People
  •     Care and Support Advocacy
  •     Service User Involvement
