The London Irish Centre (LIC) is the heart of the Irish community in London and for over sixty years it has been both supporting Irish people in London and promoting Irish arts and culture.
Our welfare service is the largest for Irish people outside of Ireland. Each year we work with thousands of people to improve their housing, income, access to health, and social inclusion opportunities. This service works to meet the diverse needs of the large Irish community in London.

Shelter Connect London Service and London Irish Centre:
Our Connect London Service is funded by London Councils and aims to prevent homelessness through early intervention for people over 25. We assist 5000 clients in housing need each year.
Service include:

Face to face generalist welfare benefits and debt advice and specialist housing advice in London boroughs as well as a pan-London telephone advice line.

Employment support

Access accommodation through our partner St Mungo's Broadway. The service additionally inludes Link workers to help client's access holistic support via other local services.

Advice, support and guidance team deliver specialist housing advice, general debt and welfare advice to service users include face to face drop-in and outreach session, phone and email
We work directly with St Mungo's who support our clients with:

Real Lettings - finding suitable private rented accommodation including securing PRS accommodation via property negotiators

Employment, Training and Education: link them into employment, training and education oportunities.
Shelter Services include:

Shelter London Legal Team - for clients who are eligible for Legal Aid

Hackney Family Service - aims to prevent homelessness and secure access to safe, affordable housing for families with complex needs in the borough of Hackney.

Shelter Funded Services ( based in Hackney) - to assist clients via telephone or face to face.
As the Connect London Service does not support under 25's, we try to support them through our Shelter Funded Services or signpost to Charities that do work withunder 25's such as New Horizons and Alone in London.
